I'm not so sure how important cultural differences are on the Internet. If they are, in fact, important, then I think they will become less important as people have more contact with eachother on the web.

It's not working on gmail. I thought I put my blog URL in my sig about two weeks ago. But it's not showing, so that must be why you aren't seeing that in anyone else's sigs?

Good ideas. I'll try putting my blog link in my sig. Not sure it works.
I think that people have cooled in the past several years to putting any kind of personal information out on open circuit discussions.

ooh Havel hits a nerve. hope there are alt endings. =) critical mass for example? or rediscovering some older patterns which have persisted unvalued waiting for us to remember the importance of ecological pattern and participation.

Nice quotes Bee - I think its more initially than 'an attempt to do your work well' - it's often about strong values, often social justice oriented or political, and a preparedness to not sell out regardless of consequences.

perhaps write a report and a poem.
perhaps sometimes the most pivotal effect of an event might be better caught in a poem with the colour and meta of context. the light of the day and the resonance of the room. combinations of people and feeling. i can understand being careful with the report but perhaps that might be easier to document when the poem has been expressed =).

My only sorrow about the convention was in not being able to spend more time with you (and some of the other Webheads!) I seemed to just spot you, e.g., at the MOMA where we were both having tea with others, or in the workspace of the EV--but alas, for just a fleeting instant. I am very happy the convention was so productive for you.

I liked that, ”empowering a child with writing is the essence of democracy”.
The writing skills in Spanish of students in Argentina are going down constantly and systematically. I want to think this is the result of indifference or ignorance. But they are so successful in limiting students' abilities that I sometimes think there must be a plan.

Certainly the dudes from different tribes have a LOT to learn with you!

Please, keep us updated on what is developing there. You know, this is something I've been more and more interested in, spreading the word of what we've been doing, helping other educators in Brazil to discover this new brave online world. I think our starting point was our presentation in Braz-TESOL 2005, but still, I'm wondering how we can converge Brazilian efforts as we do in the international spheres...
